A very lighthearted yet different take on Vampires and vampire hunters. I thought it was cute and funny. It is the story of Dom and how he wakes up in the first chapter as a fang head not remembering anything from before and decides to quite cold turkey and basically get even with the vampires for addicting him somehow by becoming a vampire hunter. Dom was funny and his inner monologue was a hoot. Especially since he seems to be just an average guy who decides to take up hunting. No training or anything, he just jumps right in. I did like very different take on vampires and cannot wait to read more to see what Vampire Drake was hiding from and where that leads. Plus I liked the ending as a setup for the rest of the series.

Fanghunters Fanghunters Book 1 edition by Leo Romero Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Oh My, how do I put this? Well, see the cover of the book? It's a total lie! See the tough, competent combat ready vampire hunter? TOTAL LIE!
SPOILER ALERT *****************************************************************************************************************************************************
The first two thirds of the book show us a spineless, clueless, whining, wallowing in self pity, total loser junkie. Three pages of that and I was pretty much done. The last third, where he hunts the vampire, show us a bumbling, clueless, weak charactered, whining, wimp that is gifted by the author with endless series of luck. He gets his ass kicked by Everybody, he loses every fight, he's a complete loser as a man and a human being YET...
Somehow he completes his mission by the grace of Deus Ex Machina inserted by the author. NO, the book isn't cute, it isn't tongue in cheek funny, in fact it lacks any reason for publication except the author MUST have paid for it himself!
No, I will not read any more of this series, No I do not recommended this book! I got this on kindle for free and I PAID TOO MUCH!
The writing in this book captivating and well done. I'd like to know more about Trixie in particular. Dominic is a bit of a blundering noob but it's charming. Defiently worth reading if you like vampires.
Beauchamp, you sly devil! I quite enjoyed Fanghunters, because it was a refreshing book that got me back into the genre that I used to love so much. Dom was believable in his roll as a Fanghunter due to the way Mr. Romero set up his character flaws. It wasn't perfect and you had your cases of Murphy's Law, if you will. He showed that not everything is a quick in and out job, there are indeed bumps and bruises along the way. The introduction to Trixie was timed perfect, I do look forward to learning more about her in the next book. Excellent job Leo! Thank you for giving me a refreshing new series!
Mediocre. I read a lot of books and this was a fair one. Did not hold my attention or make me want to read more in the series.
I can't believe the other reviewer only gave this book one star. I thought Mr. Romero did a great job writing this book. The best thing I like about this book and the series that I've read so far is that the characters are flawed and believable. This isn't some Blade type movie where the protagonist is slicing up vampires like fruit in a Cuisinart. This guy Dom is some big, out of shape lunk who is looking for some payback against what the vamps did to his brother and dad. He's got zero fighting skills and little clue as to what he's up against. Fortunately, though a turn of events he meets up with Beauchamp and Trixie. These two have made it their passion to kill these vamps because they know the how deep the rabbit hole goes. If they don't do anything humanity is doomed. The problem is that Beauchamp is an old guy whose days of vamp fighting are over. He's looking to pass the torch to Dom. but he's got to get Dom up to the task. Fortunately, Beauchamp's daughter is up tot the task. She is a skilled martial artist, but she's only one person against an army of vamps and their goons. In sum, they don't really have the resources for a head-on assault because The Order is just too big and powerful. So they have to pick their battles carefully.

Mr. Romero also does a good job of painting of what Chicago could look like in the the future. The book has a dark, gritty, neo-noir setting to it.

Mr. Romero also did a great job on the plot. The idea behind vampires addicting people with a naturally producing drug (venom) which comes out of their fangs is a fascinating concept. I've never read a vampire book that's explored this idea. Also, the idea of vampires controlling the world behind the scenes was likewise a fresh spin on a otherwise beaten to death genre.

The book isn't perfect, which is why I didn't give it five stars. The biggest things I found to distract me from the book were the use of UK English phrases occasionally. If the book is set in the USA, all the phrases should be USA phrases. The other thing is that I found a couple of typos. These weren't things that made me stop reading the book though. Overall a great read and interesting spin on vampire lore.
I thought this was going to be a boring book judging by the first chapter, but it is anything but that. It is well written and very funny, in a comedy of errors way. I really liked the ending, it was unexpected but good. I look forward to reading more of this series.
This is a short paranormal story that grabs your attention in the first chapter. In the beginning, Dominic is a slave to a vampire, doing anything it wants. He escapes the vampire's trance and escapes. Now how to get revenge on vampires, how does he find someone to pay him? How exactly does one kill a vampire and survive? The fangs and those hypnotic eyes aren't the only problem. This book has action, danger, vampires, suspense and a crusade against his enemies. This is a great start to a promising new series.
