The best book in the series. A great read. I love the new characters and some old ones who make a surprise appearance. This story starts with the aftermath of the events in, "The Dragon Queen." The Taiytakei order an investigation into the destruction of Dhar Thosis. That is where everthing begins. Crazy Mad and Tuuran go on an adventure and Baros Tsen T'Varr has a journe of his own.
Zafir is still, Zafir . mean and wanting to burn everyone and everything up. The ending is amazing and the story moves at a frantic pace. It slows down to a good story telling pace in the middle, and then fires back up again. It also makes good references to events in past books, going all the way back to, "The Order of The Scales."
Give it a try.

Fantastic as always. I love his fast pace style and twisted fates. Always a character to latch onto. Spectacular!
The amazing Stephen Deas has delivered. Shall edit this when the book is read! Thanks man ♥ I have mad respect for yeh now. I am sure its taking time to show up on here but I am patient )
Great story. Just gets better with each book.Very dangerous dragons. Can't wait for the next book to come out.
Great continuance of the story
A good addition to the writer's created word.
I have to admit that my favorite fantasy author is and may always be Terry Goodkind, however Mr. Deas has quite thoroughly sated my fascination with the dragon world as, so far as I have read among others, no one else can or will. I kick myself for not going back to the beginning and rereading this series in its entirety, front to back. Truth be told I've spent some time away from these books simply because I hadn't seen a new release in a while but always with the intention of going back and reading them regardless. I couldn't be happier that I took a chance and glanced back only to find THREE BOOKS TO DIVE INTO!!!!! Which is part of the reason I didn't re read the original series......I got hooked immediately and couldn't put them down. I realize this probably isn't helping anyone as far as context goes so I'll stop kissing ass and try to add some.
If you are as enthusiastic about reading a legitimate, well thought out, and well structured dragon series as I am then I would highly recommend you jump on these adventures created by Stephen Deas. Some people simply over embellish the dragons in many of the books I read and take it to unrealistic levels that may take a kid away in awe but I find them over zealous and typical. Deas calls it what it is, an intelligent monster with a will of its own and unbridled fury with cunning. It's main characters are crafty, resilient, and fierce mixed in with a whole bunch of other fancy words that I can't make all sound good in this sentence. Bottom line it's a fantastic read and Stephen.....if you read this.....you have restored my faith in the tale of the dragon. Please continue this series. I'm off to read the back story on the Bloody Judge which I found while looking for this series. Boom
