I am a huge Teresa Medeiros fan from the first book I read, Breath of Magic. I've been reading as much of her work as possible ever since and I really thought this would be a fabulous book.It started out great! Loved the build up of tension between the main characters. Sabrina and Morgan met as children and have been fascinated with each other ever since. Watching the growth of their relationship from a very rough start (her dad is cunning) to recognition of their feelings for each other was wonderful. About half way through is when it started losing me.
After the accident that injured Sabrina, I really thought and hoped their would be more about the deception but the rest of the book just followed Sabrina's journey to recover. It was too drawn out for me and the wrap up of the plot and intrigue was very abrupt, like 1 paragraph. Very disappointing. I gave it 3 stars because the elements were there for another fabulous book by Teresa but it just went flat in the middle to the end. This is the only book I've read by her that I will not read again but I still love her! Everyone is entitled to an "off" book.

I loved the beginning, but felt the ending dragged a bit. all in all it was a good book but not Medeiros's best
Romance, Adventure. Great characters from a consistently great author. One of my favorite books. Timeless in its appeal. A must read!!!
I absolutely love this book! I have read it more times than I can remember. Teresa Medeiros is truly a writer to cherish! She creates the most sweet love stories!
The overall plot was less than riveting. The melodramatic heroine was irritating. This book lacked the charm and sense of adventure one had come to expect with such writings as Once an Angel.
This is a great book - I couldn't put it down! I ended up staying up half the night to get through it. The ending drags just a tad but so well worth it! Very romantic..
This book will break your heart and then mend it again, I laughed I cried and I read on.......I assure you......you will read it over and over and find something new each time. Truthfully, I've read the paperback so many times it's very worn. Having had the paperbacks for many years, I'm happy to find Ms. Medeiros' works now on kindle. You won't stop at one novel, you'll buy them all and revisit them often.
The book begins with a promising and well-written prologue which does a good job of establishing the story dynamics and characters. However, the book bogs down about two-thirds of the way in, when the author moves the relationship between the two main characters, Morgan and Sabrina, too quickly. The tension is not sustained, and the author tries to re-create that tension by throwing in an increduous series of events and character changes. The story awkwardly moves from the Scottish Highlands to London ballrooms, and Sabrina becomes part martyr and part shrew--a thoroughly unrealistic and unlikeable change. There is also an eye-rolling transformation of personalities in Morgan's uncouth and somewhat primeval family--Clan MacDonnell--due to Sabrina's civilizing presence. She inspires the story's brazen and sexy seductress to becomes a shy and modest maiden and the fierce warrior to spout poetry and drink from teacups. Please! Keep the characters real--we don't need that bit of Disneyesque nonsense to make Sabrina's character likeable. The reader starts with two well-developed and unique characters who sadly become caricatures by the story's end.
